Roger Darrell Donegan, son of Philip Cornelius Donegan and Charlotte Elizabeth Chase and later adopted son of Charlotte Chase Donegan McHugh and Francis Joseph McHugh, was born June 24, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is a lifetime resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roger graduated from Roosevelt High School. Although in his senior year and leaving his graduating class, Roger left to join the United States Navy in April 1943. After serving in the South Pacific with the 7th Fleet Amphibious Forces, Port Director Unit and assigned to the invasion of the New Guinea and Biak Island Group, ending his tour of duty after World War Two on Biak Island. He returned from regular overseas duty and was assigned to shore duty in Hunter Point Naval Pier in San Francisco, California. He was discharged from the United States Navy at the Naval Air Station in Minneapolis, Minnesota in June 1946, after which he joined the inactive Naval Reserves. Roger was recalled into the United States Navy on March 15, 1951 and assigned to the Radio Communication Department aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Oriskant-CVA-34; he was discharged from recalled duty on June 15, 1953.

Roger married Irene Mathilda Horstman of Guttenberg, Iowa at St. James Methodist on July 15, 1946. One son, Richard Wald Donegan was born of that marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Roger married Mary Maxine Voorhees Pheiffer in Davenport, Iowa at St. John's Methodist Church on Brady Street on March 27, 1981. They now reside in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roger and Mary have two Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren, of which a set of twins (Abigail and Aidan) were born on Rogers's birthday, June 24, 2005.

Roger returned to Roosevelt High School to receive his diploma after receiving his discharge from the United States Navy. The D. M. Ink Company, employed him in September 1950 as a Graphic Illustrator producing book drawings of various manufactured industrial engines and machinery. He terminated his employment with the D. M. Ink Company to accept employment with Collins Radio Company to establish the Publications Department. Roger retired from Rockwell-Collins as Manager, Publishing Services Department on completion of 35-1/2 years of service on March 27, 1986.

Roger's Masonic background: Past Master of Daytime Lodge #671 and affiliated Past Master of Mt. Hermon Lodge #263; Past High Priest of Trowel Chapter #49 R.A.M.; Past Illustrious Master of Palestine Council #27, R.&S.M.; Commander of Apollo Commandery #26, Knights Templar. He was member of the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rites Bodies and Past Worthy Patron of Malta Chapter #415, O.E.S. He served El Kahir Shrine as Potentate in 1991. He became Recorder of El Kahir Shrine in 1994, and was honored by Illustrious Sir Stanley Petersen, P.P. 2003, by presenting him with his Recorder Emeritus title.

Roger, also, belongs to many military organizations and has held many Local, State and National elected offices.
