Floyd Arthur Sauter, Jr. was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 24, 1949. He graduated from Jefferson High School. After High School, Floyd joined the Navy in 1967 and was honorably discharged at the Rank of Steelworker 3rd Class.

Floyd married Judy Kay Robertson on March 9, 1968 and they have 2 sons Tim and Troy. Floyd and Judy have also been blessed with 4 grandchildren.

Floyd's career has been in Ironworking, Safety and Instructor in many safety-related fields and is currently with The Weitz Company, Inc. His responsibilities as project superintendent include control of the job, jobsite personnel, safety, quality and progress, and of job records and subcontractor relations. The project superintendent is the on-site Weitz representative with the authority to speak and make decisions for the company. Floyd holds many certifications that qualify him to instruct apprentice as well as experienced ironworkers and those responsible for safety.

Floyd has served as President, Financial Secretary, and Business Manager of Ironworkers Local 89. He is proficient in First Aid and CPR for adults, children and infants.

In 1964 as a youth, Floyd earned his Eagle Scout badge in the Boy Scouts of America. His interests today include Freemasonry, the Scottish Rite, Shriner, and President of Vintage Auto Club of El Kahir Shrine. He enjoys bowling and is the Past President of the Cedar Rapids Youth, Men's Association.

Floyd says, "I have been working with people in the trades for over 38 years. I enjoy working with people and learning from them, as well as teaching if it arises."
