H. Burr Bryant was born in Oelwein, Iowa, October 15, 1950. Burr graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1969,
and went to the 'big' city of Cedar Rapids in the fall of 1969. He attended Coe College and graduated in 1973 with a double
major in Biology and Psychology. Burr was married to Connie on December 18, 1971. They have two children, Tamera 32, and Harold, 30. Tamera lives in San Antonio, Texas and Harold lives in St Charles, Iowa. They have no grandchildren . . . . yet . . . . but still have hopes and faith. After graduating from Coe, Burr went to work at Times Camera Center in Cedar Rapids. After five years or so, he and two others founded Empire Photo and later on bought Times Camera. They had many wonderful years, but after 15 years of being in the photography-related business, they shut the doors and went on to other pursuits. Burr went to the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1991 and graduated with his M.Div in 1995. He was ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church in 2001. Burr has served three congregations in Iowa; Clover Ridge in Walford, Montezuma, and is currently serving Alburnett/Prairie Chapel. Burr is the founding pastor of Clover Ridge after merging the Fairfax and Walford UMC's. Burr started his Masonic life almost on the day he was born. His Great-Grand Father, Grandfather, and Step-Father were all Masons and all Shrine Masons. He was surrounded by Masonic activities, the question was not will he join, but when. Burr joined Fidelitas Lodge #364 in 1976. He belongs to the Scottish Rite, York Rite and has been a Shriner since 1977. His first unit was the Shrine Band playing the clarinet. Burr has played in this band since he was in Junior High School and is its current president. Burr holds a dual membership with Lafayette Lodge #52 in Montezuma where he is a Past Master. |
